As of 2011, Native American journalists make up less than 1% of the news industry, according to the American Society of News Editors. The 2015 National Native Media conference attendees will have an opportunity to network with potential employers at the Career Fair & Expo held on Friday and Saturday, July 10-11th from 9:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m. The fair will provide networking and face-to-face interaction with some major industry employers such as AP, NBC, and CBS according to NAJA Interim Executive Director, Rebecca Landsberry.
"The goal of many of the exhibitors is to recruit Native talent. Diversity has become such an issue that the mainstream has recognized the need for more Native journalists," said Landsberry.
Media jobs are just some of the career options to be presented at the fair. Exhibitors will be ready to receive resumes and exchange business cards at the Exhibit Hall-Independence Center located on the second floor of the hotel.
