MEET THE DC NATIVE COMMUNITY
Visit the American University campus Saturday, July 11th for the 2015 WINS (Washington Internships for Native Students) annual pow wow from noon-5:00 p.m. Connect with the D.C. Native community and enjoy an afternoon of dancing, singing, and frybread! According to WINS Community Assistant Lucretia Lovato, attendees can expect to see nine vendors displaying a mix of arts and crafts, apparel, and Indian tacos.
"All of our vendors are very wonderful! They are from local areas of DC, Virginia, and Maryland...D.C. Has a wonderful Native community that come out to support this amazing program that has assisted so many wonderful young professionals. Many WINS students end up moving to D.C. and are in very important positions in many Native and non-Native organizations and government," said Lovato.
The pow wow will be held at the main campus quad and can easily be reached via the Metro. Departing from the Crystal City Metro Station at 11:00 a.m. will get you to the pow wow just before noon. For detailed transit route visit http://www.wmata.com/index.cfm to plan your trip.
